john waters's HMB Web Diary Sat, Dec 13, 2008 1st experience with hmbwas in communication with this guy named mush. Had told me to meet him for a rehearsal on gansevoort st and washington (sunday). Not knowing that part of town, got off the train, and it looked like a street party, i didn't think anything of it. I was expecting a school yard, with sousaphone, and a big a** band. there was no school yard. all i saw was the water. as i kept on walking, i saw some musicians under this beat up old building jamming. I then thought, huh.. maybe this was the band? It was muggy out, and thundering pretty loud, and the streets were all cobblestones. there were crazy loons everywhere. and then someone asked me if Iwas mush's friend, and the next thing I new, I was jamming out with these awesome cats in the midst of a thunderstorm, under an abondant movie theater, in the heart of the Rainbow Parade! go figure!
